This week reminded me that business isn’t only about products—it’s about understanding people.
In South India, there’s a traditional period called Aadi, when many families postpone major purchases like wedding-related shopping, furniture, and other new purchases. As a result, many businesses experience a temporary slowdown in demand.
It’s a good reminder that every market has its own buying seasons. In the U.S., it’s Black Friday and Christmas. In China, it’s Lunar New Year. Different cultures, but the same business lesson: consumer behavior shapes markets.
As a footwear manufacturer, I’ve learned that these slow periods aren’t a sign of failure. They’re part of the business cycle. The key is to prepare with better cash flow planning, inventory management, and patience.
Every entrepreneur will face seasons of rapid growth and seasons of slower demand. The goal isn’t to avoid them—it’s to understand them and plan ahead.
Lesson of the Week: Great businesses don’t just study numbers. They study people, because people ultimately drive every market.
